Safe & Sound Protocol

Are you a certified trauma therapist?

If you are certified in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma-focused IFS, or another evidence-based trauma-focused therapy, you may have clients who get “stuck” in dysregulation or are progressing more slowly than you expected. The Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP) may be just what you need!

I can help by reducing your training investment to zero...

How SSP works

The eardrum is the first point at which the auditory system can filter out low-frequency noise. The tiny muscles of the middle ear do this job by controlling the tension on the eardrum. When someone has been exposed to trauma, overly loud noise, or even repeated ear infections, the auditory system can become hypersensitive to low frequency noise.

The SSP exercises those middle ear muscles so the ear is tuned into the normal human voice. This reduces “danger” signaling to the vagus nerve and increases regulation.

Listening to Music

What is involved in the treatment with SSP?

SSP is a passive trauma treatment.  The client simply listens to engineered music for one hour on 5 consecutive days while being monitored for regulation.

The therapist only needs to make time for the sessions and monitor the client for signs of autonomic dysregulation. The therapist’s trauma-focused training is sufficient to re-regulate the client if that is needed.

How can I collaborate to get SSP for my clients?

You do not have to go through the training and get an expensive subscription you may not be able to justify financially.

If you are willing to collaborate with Stephanie Isbell LCPC, then you can charge the client for sessions as usual and the client can pay Big Sky Family Therapy for the use of the Safe & Sound Protocol.

This collaboration can cover any number of clients you like.  Paperwork includes a simple contract, liability waiver, and HIPAA release.
